How to Read Betting Odds
Bettors in Bangladesh are generally familiar with three odds formats. Each format looks different but expresses the same probability — the only difference is in presentation.
The most common format
The odds number represents your total return (including your original stake). Example: odds of 2.50 means a ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,500.
Example 1 — Team A wins:
Decimal 2.50 = Fraction 3/2 = American +150. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,500 if you win (৳1,500 profit + ৳1,000 stake); if you lose, ৳1,000 is gone.
Profit ratio
The top number of the fraction = profit, the bottom number = stake. 3/2 means ৳3 profit on a ৳2 bet. Your original stake is returned separately.
Example 2 — Team B favourite:
Decimal 1.25 = Fraction 1/4 = American −400. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,250 if you win (৳250 profit).
Plus and minus signs
+150 means ৳150 profit on a ৳100 bet (underdog). −400 means you need to bet ৳400 to win ৳150 profit (favourite).
Remember:
American minus odds show how much you need to bet to win ৳100 profit — for a favourite, this is always more than ৳100.
